National Kidney Center is providing CAPD ( Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) services. This programme has been endorsed by Nepal Government and patients are getting free services under the Bippana (Poor) Programme.
CAPD (often just called 'the bags') is one type of peritoneal dialysis. It cleans our body, helps to control the water and replaces the work of the diseased kidneys.
CAPD is the most portable type of dialysis. It uses manual bags containing peritoneal dialysis fluid. It is done every day, via our peritoneal cavity, with bag changes four times a day. It can usually be learnt in about a week and does not require needles.
